SURYA NAMASKARA
The Sanskrit name surya here refers to the sun and Namaskara means ‘salutations’.is revered the world over as a symbol of energy and vibrant life. In yoga the sun is represented by pingala or surya nadi. It is an effective way of loosening up, stretching, One of the most popular routines in the , the ‘Surya Namaskar’ has showing gratitude to the sun as its essence. Surya namaskar is a complete sadhana, spiritual practice, asana, pranayama, mantra and meditation technique. Surya Namaskar is an excellent group of asanas with which start morning practice. Daily practice of surya Namaskar regulates pingala nadi. It is under-active or over-active. Regulation of pingala nadi leads to a balanced energy system at both mental and physical levels.
Time of Practice:
Ideal time to practice Surya Namaskara is at sunrise, the most peaceful time of day. Whenever possible, practice in the open air, facing the sun rising. Surya Namaskara, may be practice at any time provided the stomach is empty.
PREPARATION:
Before beginning the practice, stand with your feet slightly wider than shoulder-width apart and your arms at your sides. Gently close your eyes and focus on your entire physical body as a single, cohesive entity. The body may wobble backwards and forwards or side to side in this position. Reduce the amount of oscillation and evenly distribute your body weight across both feet.
