A representative from Himalayan Yoga and Excursion will be there to meet you and take you to your hotel in Thamel, which happens to be the tourist hub of Kathmandu. The remainder of the day is yours to explore Thamel of going sightseeing.
Our journey begins with a 6 to 7-hour drive to Pokhara Valley and its stunning Phewa Tal (lake) and then checking in to your hotel close to Phewa Tal. There is ample to keep you busy along Lakeside. There are cafes, bars, and restaurants as well as many wonderful gift stores.
A 30-minute drive from Pokhara will take us to Phedi where our actual trek begins. The trail heads up some stone steps toward Dhampus located about 500 meters higher up the ridge. The local people around Dhampus are mostly Brahmin, Chhetri, and a few Gurung. From Dhampus you will have some fantastic views of the Annapurna Ranges.
From Pothana we head to Pitam Deurali and follow a very peaceful trail through thick forests of oak, maple and rhododendrons. We will stay here in a cabin tonight in this peaceful woodlands setting.
This morning we trek from Forest Camp to High Camp through dense forest. We will stop for lunch at Low Camp from where we can clearly see Mt. Machhapuchhre. From Low Camp, we head west and enjoy some fantastic views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli Himal. From High Camp, we have excellent views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli Himal, and Mt. Machhapuchhre.
The plan this morning is to get up really early and head up to Mardi Himal to watch the sunrise over the mountains. In about three hours we should arrive at the Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500m) from where you can look down over the Annapurna Sanctuary. We will stay here overnight at a guest house.
Today we follow a path from Low Camp down to Siding town, an alternative route back to our starting point. Siding is a less busy town and is a good place to stay the night.
From Siding we will pass the towns of Kalimati and Ghalel. Kalimati is mostly occupied by Brahmins, while Ghalel and Siding are a mix of Brahmin and Gurung. At Lumre we will drive by jeep back to Pokhara.
This morning we say farewell to the Annapurna Mountains as we drive back to Kathmandu which should take around 6 hours. Overnight at lodging, breakfast notwithstanding.
A representative from Himalayan Yoga and Excursion will take you to the airport at least three hours prior to your scheduled departure. We look forward to getting some feedback of your experience on the trek. Likewise, we welcome your inquiries regarding other exciting treks in the Himalayan Mountains.
