Today, you arrive at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport. Before accompanying you to the hotel, our office personnel will meet and greet you at the airport. We will collect your passport and any other documentation required for the Chinese visa application. You have the evening to yourself.
Morning: Today, we will apply for a Tibet Group Visa. The visa process starts at 9:30 a.m. local time. Today, we'll have to wait in the hotel till the visa process is complete. If the visa center (VFS) has any questions or reservations regarding the documents or information you provided on the visa form, they may call you into their office at any moment. Afternoon: You will travel to Pashupati for the Rudra Paath performed by Brahman priests Panchayatan, Navagraha Havana, and Mrityunjaya Havan. Following that, you will see the evening Arati at Pashupatinath Temple.
Visit the Jal Narayan temple and the Baudhanath stupa in the morning. Following lunch at the hotel, you will go to the monkey temple after midday.
A sightseeing trip of Doleshwor Mahadev Temple. The temple is roughly 7 kilometers from Kathmandu's city center. The history of this temple is linked to the Kedarnath temple in India. This edifice holds spiritual significance. This shrine, among others, is revered as Lord Kedarnath's head. According to tradition, the deity's head landed here while his body journeyed from Kedarnath, India. People in the forest worship a large boulder, which they think represents Lord Kedarnath. According to the Doleshwar Mahadev Legend, the Pandav brothers went to the Himalayas after the Mahabharata War to ask Lord Shiva to pardon them for slaughtering so many people.
After breakfast, you will travel from Kathmandu to TIMURE village (on the Nepalese border). Timure village is a small community in Nepal, about a kilometer from the Friendship Bridge. The distance between Kathmandu and Timure village is around 159 kilometers, and the journey takes about 7 hours. The roadway leading to Nepal's China border is narrow and hilly, and small land slides are common during the monsoon season. Because of the harsh road conditions and rocky terrain, luxurious tourist vehicles are unable to travel between Kathmandu and the Nepal-China border. As a result, we use municipal buses for transit along this route
After breakfast, you will walk from Timure to Kyirong Gadhi. The word "Gadhi" means "fortress," while the term "Kyirong" refers to the location. Timure village in Nepal is approximately one kilometer from the "Kyirong Gadhi," or Friendship Bridge. Once the Chinese and Nepali immigration processes are done, you will drive to Kyirong town (China side). The distance between Friendship Bridge and Kyirong Town is roughly 26 kilometers and can be accomplished in one hour by car. Spend the night in Kyirong Town.
We'll leave for Saga early this morning. Saga is a small town on the Tibetan Plateau at an elevation of 4500 meters. It is situated on the banks of the sacred river Bramhaputra, which originates in the Kailash area. From Kailash, the river flows east to Lhasa before falling down to the Asam plain, passing through Tibet's vast Namch Barwa region into Arunchal Pradesh. We'll be crossing several mountain passes on our journey to Saga. Today, we will spend the night in Saga.
Today is probably the most anticipated day of our life. As usual, after breakfast, we will leave Saga for Lake Manasarovar. From Saga, we'll head west into the high and barren Tibetan plateau. On the way, we'll make a quick halt at the Mayum-La checkpoint, where the Chinese army will inspect our travel permits and other necessary licenses. After passing through the checkpoint, we'll stop for a picnic lunch near the riverbank or on the grass. We then continue driving to Lake Manasarovar, passing over a steep mountain (Mayum-La, 5220 m). When we get at Lake Manasarovar (east side), we will stop again at a local environmental checkpoint. After completing several inspections and formalities, we will circle the lake clockwise and drive to Chiu Gompa (Monastery).
We shall pray, take a holy bath, and perform other religious rituals in the morning. After lunch at Lake Manasarovar, we will leave for Darchen in the afternoon. Darchen is 37 kilometers away, and it will take us 45 minutes.
We will depart from Darchen for Tarboche (Yam Dwar) after breakfast. It takes about twenty minutes by automobile. Beautiful views of Mount Kailash's west and south slopes, as well as the surrounding countryside, are available. Tarboche is a gathering point for local porters, yaks, and horses. If you have arranged for a local porter or horse, they will meet you here and accompany you to your next destination. Tarboche marks the start of the Mount Kailash circumambulation route. Your aim for today is Deraphuk (Mount Kailash's north face). Deraphuk has a height of 5080 meters (16,663 feet). You have two ways to go to Deraphuk: walk or ride a horse. The Chinese government considers vehicular transportation illegal.
The Mt. Kailash Charan Sparsh trek a sacred pilgrimage that typically involves a trek of about 7 km from Derapuk Guesthouse to the base of Mt. Kailash's northern face. The best time to travel this journey is between mid-May and September, although July and August may have heavy rains. The trek offers stunning views of the Himalayan region, including lush valleys and high-altitude desert landscapes.
Today is the longest and most challenging day of our journey. We must go 22 kilometers in total to reach Zutulphuk. The trek from Deraphuk to Dolma la (5650 m) is straight up through difficult and steep terrain. It takes about five hours to drive the six kilometers from Deraphuk to Dolma La. If you descend around 400 meters from Dolm La, you may notice a small frozen lake on the right, about 140 meters off the main trail. This is Gaurikunda Lake. The trail then descends to the valley floor, where a Tibetan tea shop is located. The three-kilometer journey between Dolma La and the local tea shop at the valley bottom demands significant attention because this stretch of the track is regularly covered in ice and scree.
Today is the concluding day of this beautiful circumambulation. After breakfast, we collect our belongings and travel to Darchen. The journey from Zutulphuk to the final destination (Zongdou) is around 7 kilometers long and takes 3 to 4 hours to accomplish. All members meet at the end point and drive back to Darchen, which takes around 20 minutes. The final stretch from Zongdau (the endpoint) to Darchen is around 4 kilometers. After reconciling with the members who were left behind in Darchen, we will journey to Saga. The approximate driving distance between Darchen and Saga is 510 kilometers, which takes roughly 8 hours. We will arrive at Saga late in the evening.
We gather our belongings after breakfast and head toward Kyirong Bridge. We have 180 kilometers to drive today, which will take about 4 hours, to reach Kyirong Bridge. We will walk to Timure after completing the immigration processes on both the Chinese and Nepalese sides, and then check into our hotel.
After breakfast, you'll proceed to Kathmandu. Returning to Kathmandu takes approximately seven hours. The route is tiny and twists over difficult terrain. You will arrive in Kathmandu in the evening.
Our office staff will transfer you to the international airport for your return home. According to international flight guidelines, you must arrive at the airport counter three hours before your flight's departure time.
