12 Days Annapurna Base Camp Yoga Trek

The 12 Days Annapurna Base Camp Yoga Trek is a trekking route that combines the experience of trekking in the beautiful Annapurna region of Nepal with daily yoga and meditation practices. This trek takes you through stunning landscapes, diverse flora, and fauna, and allows you to immerse yourself in the rich local culture of the region.

The trek starts from Nayapul, a small town located about an hour's drive from Pokhara. The route passes through dense forests of rhododendron and bamboo, as well as traditional Gurung villages, and provides breathtaking views of some of the highest peaks in the world, including Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and Hiunchuli.

Along with the trek, yoga, and meditation sessions are conducted each day in the mornings and evenings. The yoga sessions are designed to help you stretch and relax your muscles after a day of trekking and also help you develop a deeper awareness of your body and mind. The meditation sessions, on the other hand, help you to calm your mind and connect with your inner self.

This adventure begins with a drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara and then on to Nayapul, where our trek begins. Along the trail, we can see terraced rice fields perched on hilltops above and below the Modi Khola River. Along the way to Tikhedhunga (1570 meters), which is our next stop, we can see enormous mountains covered in snow. The following day, we travel along the Modi Khola's banks to Birethani and, ultimately, Ghorepani, where you will have time to explore the town and learn about its culture.

The Annapurna Base Camp Yoga Trek is a moderate-level trek that can be completed within 7-10 days. The best time to undertake this trek is from March to May and from September to November when the weather is clear and the skies are blue.

Overall, this trek is a unique opportunity to experience the natural beauty of Nepal while also taking care of your mind and body through yoga and meditation practices.

  • One Yoga practice per day
  • Two asana practices per day
  • Daily Meditation and Pranayama

ITINERARY

Expand All
On your arrival at Kathmandu, a representative from Himalayan Yoga and Excursion will there to greet you and take you to your hotel in Thamel. Later you will be briefed and given an opportunity to ask questions about the trek.
Today we leave in the morning by a private vehicle heading from Pokhara to Nayapul and then we begin our trek to Ulleri. The trail is quite steep for 2 to 3 hours before flattening out. We pass through a forest and will soon have some astonishing views of Mt. Annapurna South and Mt. Hiunchuli.
We begin the day with a 1.5-hour drive from Pokhara to Nayapul (1070m) and then 3 hours later we come to Tikhedhunga (1,540). Tonight we will stay at a tea house at Tikhedhunga.
The day begins with an uphill climb to Ghorepani (2750m). It will take around 5 to 6 hours to reach the Gurung settlement of Ghorepani from where you can see the Annapurna ranges. You will have time to explore the town and get to observe the way of life here. We will stay at a tea-house overnight.
Poon Hill is famous in this region for offering some of the finest views of the Annapurna Ranges, and most especially at sunrise and sunset. Ideally, we will reach the Poon Hill viewpoint before daybreak where we can watch the changing colours reflecting off the mountains, such as: Dhaulagiri (8167m), Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna II (7937m), Annapurna III (7855m), Annapurna IV (7525m), Annapurna South (729m), Nilgiri (6940m), Tukluche (6920m), Varaha Shikhar (7847m) & Lamjung Himal (6931m). After frantically snapping pictures we will head back for breakfast at Ghorepani and then to Tadapani village passing through Deurali along the way.
This morning we descend through oak and rhododendron forests with views of the Annapurna's along the route. We will stop for lunch at Kimrong Khola (river) - a tributary of the Modi Khola River. The trail then heads uphill for 1-2 hours until we come to the ridge where it becomes easier before arriving at Chhomrong Village (the last village before ABC).
We continue on the trail and first head to Bamboo and then uphill to Dovan (2,600m). We pass through stands of rhododendron and bamboo forests before coming to Dovan where we stay overnight.
In the morning we hit the trail again and head higher for about 4 hours to the village of Deurali (3,200m) slowly getting closer to ABC. Tonight we will stay at a tea-house in Deurali.
From Deurali we trek for around 4 hours until we reach ABC (4130m). Prior to reaching ABC, we pass through Machhapuchhre Base Camp. The trail proceeds to the south of the moraine. At this point, we have some great close-up views of the mountains. The remainder of the day is spent at ABC.
This morning we wake up at Annapurna Base Camp and then backtrack to backtrack to Bamboo. Today is nearly all downhill as we trek for between 5 to 6 hours to Bamboo (2310m) where we will stay overnight.
Again we head downhill for 6 hours until we reach Jhinu Danda (1780m). The trail will pass through the village of Matkyu at which point we will drive back to Pokhara and to our hotels at “Lakeside”.
Today we head back on a 6 to 7 hour road trip to Kathmandu taking with us many fond memories of Nepal and its unique culture and landscape.
